Kyrell Lisbie: Cray Valley forward's 'dream' FA Cup trip to dad Kevin's old club

"The world stopped. My phone blew up. The reaction was raw, it was pure excitement," says Kyrell Lisbie.

Drawing League One side Charlton Athletic was a dream for his eighth-tier side Cray Valley Paper Mills, but it was extra special for his family.

The 19-year-old forward has a chance to impress in the FA Cup first round at a ground where his dad is a club legend.

Kevin Lisbie played 176 times in an 11-year period, which included seven seasons in the Premier League.

"I've watched his clips and I know that he's obviously a loved character at the club," Kyrell told BBC Radio Kent.

"To go there and hopefully score would be a dream come true in front of all of my family and friends."

Kevin Lisbie made his Charlton debut in 1996 and also played for Jamaica, Colchester, Leyton Orient and Cray Valley

The Isthmian League South East Division team have equalled their best ever FA Cup run by reaching the first round, overcoming eight qualifying matches since August, including three replays.

Kyrell said: "We are going to go there to compete ... to show who we are ... the FA Cup is about upsets so who knows what could happen?"

The father-son duo briefly overlapped at Cray Valley when Kyrell was 16, with the teenager going on to play for Watford's academy alongside his twin brother Kyreece.

One thing is guaranteed, he will not have to look far for advice ahead of the match.

"[Dad] comes to all of my games. He'll let me know his feedback, so he is always there to rely on and lean on."

"It's a dream to follow in his footsteps and that is what me and my twin are trying to do."
