Otis Khan qualifies to play for Pakistan through his late grandfather

Grimsby midfielder Otis Khan has been cleared to resume playing for Pakistan by Fifa after an eligibility issue.

The 28-year-old was due to feature in World Cup qualifiers against Cambodia last month, only to be told two hours before the game that he could not play.

He had previously featured in friendlies for the Asian side but a query over his grandfather's heritage then saw Fifa rule him ineligible.

Khan told BBC Radio Humberside he was "sure" the issue would be resolved.

Pakistan's two-legged win over Cambodia saw them go through to the next stage of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, and they have now been placed in a group with Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan.

Khan could now feature in the trip to Saudi Arabia on Thursday, 16 November and the home game with Tajikistan the following Tuesday.
