Ben Jackson's late goal gave Huddersfield Town a battling point against promotion-chasing Southampton.
The away side took a deserved lead when Saints skipper Adam Armstrong finished well at the near post in time added on at the end of the first half from Stuart Armstrong's low cross.
Substitute Sam Edozie drew an excellent save from Town goalkeeper Chris Maxwell as the away side looked to wrap up a fourth straight win.
Town improved as the game wore on and, after both Sorba Thomas and Michal Helik wasted good headed opportunities, Jackson's cross drifted by everyone and into the back of the net.
Although the away side dominated possession, with 78% to the home side's 22, the Terriers were ultimately worth their point.
Already missing a number of players through injury they were hit once more when striker Kian Harratt had to go off early in the first half after pulling his hamstring.
That led to boss Darren Moore switching to a 5-4-1 formation as he looked for his charges to contain Russell Martin's in-form side.
They could not keep Southampton at bay though and, after Stuart Armstrong had hit the post with a well-struck shot, the Scot teed up namesake Adam to break the deadlock just before the break with his 10th goal of the season.
With only one win from his nine games in charge prior to today Moore's men were then booed off by the home crowd at the break but improved significantly in the second half.
Jackson ultimately made their pressure tell when his cross went over everyone and bounced beyond goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu into the Southampton goal.
Town, who remain four points above the relegation zone, visit Sunderland on Wednesday, while Martin's men, in fourth place, host Bristol City on the same night.
Huddersfield boss Darren Moore:
"The way we went about the game, I thought the boys were unjust to go in at half-time a goal down.
"It's just a lapse of concentration. I didn't alter my team talk, it was just for us to get higher up the pitch.
"We could've capitalised better on some chances, but I can't criticise the players because they are doing the right things.
"We had a glorious chance with Sorba Thomas and we had the momentum going forward.
"On the balance of the play, we deserved that today. We got the performance right today in terms of how we managed the game."
Southampton boss Russell Martin:
"Nowhere near enough energy and intensity. We looked tired towards the end, but there's no excuse, we should win the game.
"The goal was coming, we just didn't make enough of our moments in front of the goal, so it's frustrating, an opportunity missed.
"The game was there for us. We had some brilliant moves in the first half and then we allowed the momentum to shift and the atmosphere to change.
"We became less brave. We were forcing things too much when we didn't need to because the game was coming to us.
"Our mentality has cost us two points. We need to put that right on Wednesday. I'm annoyed we didn't win and so are the players, they're frustrated and angry."
