Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure might miss the rest of the season after sustaining an Achilles injury in the 2-1 defeat at Luton Town on Saturday.

Doucoure, 23, was stretchered off after going down in pain while playing a pass early in the second half.

The injury might rule the Mali international out for up to six months.

It is a big blow to Roy Hodgson's side, with Doucoure becoming a key player since joining from Lens in July 2022.

He has made 45 Premier League appearances for Palace and was named by supporters as the club's player of the season last term.

Doucoure's performances have seen him linked with a move to Liverpool, prompting Palace to put a £70m valuation on him.

The injury also rules him out of Mali's Africa Cup of Nations campaign which begins in January.

Meanwhile, Palace are waiting for an update on the fitness of England midfielder Eberechi Eze, who was substituted in the same game with an ankle injury.
