Portsmouth's Alex Robertson is keen to go on a scoring streak after breaking his duck at the 25th attempt.

The midfielder, on loan from Manchester City, failed to score in 24 senior games at City and in loan spells at Ross County and latterly Portsmouth.

However his maiden goal helped Pompey to victory at Burton on Tuesday.

"I won't forget it. It's been a long time coming, Hopefully I can push on now and get some more," the 20-year-old Australian told BBC Radio Solent.

"I'm over the moon personally, getting my first professional goal was very nice, but for the team to bounce back the way we did following the weekend result was a massive positive for us."

The Socceroos international swept home Joe Rafferty's cross to make it 2-0 just after the hour.

"I thought I'd missed because when I hit it the guy was stood in my way, but I've been looking for that cut-back for weeks," he said.

"The passage of play was really nice and for him to have found me was credit to him.

"It was a relief. I've been playing a bit deeper so I've kind of chilled out a bit going forward but (manager John Mousinho) has given me that licence to go up.

"Hopefully I can get them going now and keep scoring goals, but the main thing is the team and the results.

"When we get playing and get going nobody can really stop us. To bounce back like that was very important, not only to get the win but to control the game like that. It was a massive positive."

The only negative on the night was Colby Bishop being replaced with an apparent ankle injury at the break after scoring his 11th goal of the season, joining Chelsea loanee Tino Anjorin and defensive lynchpin Regan Poole on the sidelines.

"Hopefully it's nothing too serious and we can have him back because we've got some great players out," Robertson added.

"If Colby is out for a while it would obviously be a big blow but at the same time we've got a great striker in Kusini Yengi to step in which is really good."
