League One side Oxford United have signed defender Joe Bennett on a "short-term" deal.
The 33-year-old has been a free agent since he was released by Wigan Athletic at the end of last season.
The left-back began his career at Middlesbrough before moving to Aston Villa in 2012.
His former clubs also include Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday, while he also made more than 150 appearances for Cardiff.
"Joe has played most of his football at a higher level but knows this league and his experience will be a great help for what is predominantly a young group," head coach Des Buckingham said.
