Darren Moore: Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle 'not considering' sacking boss

Huddersfield won 2-1 at Sunderland on Wednesday to give them just their second win in 11 games under Darren Moore

Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle has given his full support to manager Darren Moore.

Moore, 49, took over from Neil Warnock in September but has only won two of his first 11 matches in charge.

Asked if he had thought about sacking him, Nagle told BBC Radio Leeds: "It is not even a consideration. I believe in Darren. You're seeing the beginning of something I believe can be great.

"Darren has done everything that we have asked of him."

Nagle added: "We're uncomfortably comfortable. I'm not happy with where we are in the table, we want to move up, but the reality is we want to support Darren because he's our guy.

"I think if you read social media outlets then many of those fans don't tend to be happy but I think there's a broader group who are more patient.

"Overall, people might not be happy because of where we are, I'm not happy, but you can't expect someone to come in and make wholesale changes in 11 games."

Huddersfield are 21st in the Championship, six points clear of the bottom three, with 19 points from their first 18 matches.

However, they have only scored 17 goals in the league so far this campaign, the joint-third lowest in the league.

The American businessman, who completed his takeover of the Terriers in the summer, acknowledged the squad may be lacking in quality in the forward positions.

"We would like to play an attacking type of football. Do we have the right players for that? That's something the whole management team have got to figure out," he said.

"I think when you look at successful teams across the world, they play that brand and I like that, it's exciting for the fans as well.

"We have the January window coming up and we'll be looking at what opportunities we can find there to fortify the team to be successful."
