Adam Randell's third goal of the season came on his 100th appearance for Plymouth Argyle

Adam Randell says he had a feeling of "absolute elation" after getting Plymouth Argyle's last-minute winner against Stoke City.

Randell's 97th-minute strike moved Argyle up to 16th place in the Championship after it secured successive home wins.

The goal came as Randell, 23, came off the bench to make his 100th appearance for his hometown club.

"I was buzzing for myself and all the lads as well," he told BBC Radio Devon.

"We've worked really hard this week, the lads have stuck in and we've had some tough games, so it's nice to contribute to the team and help with the winning ways."

Randell's strike came after Luke Cundle's shot had been blocked on the line as the hosts went for a winner having come from a goal down at Home Park.

"I knew that if it came to me I was just going to hit it because there was seconds to go and I was trying to make the most of the opportunity," he added.

"I got it on target and managed to hit the net and I just went mental."

The victory put five teams and six points between Argyle and the relegation places as the Pilgrims finally found a late winner of their own having conceded late goals to lose points to Southampton and Birmingham City earlier the season.

"It is a brilliant feeling, but on the other side of it you feel gutted for the opposition team and manager because it's not nice," manager Steven Schumacher added.

"But thankfully we got the win in front of our home fans and all our fans go home happy.

"All the subs were brilliant when they came on.

"We said that at the end to everybody, they made a huge impact.

"Last season that was so important for us, it was one of the reasons why we were so successful because in a three-game week like we've had this week, when everyone's tired and you need fresh legs, we know we've got quality throughout the squad, or enough quality throughout the squad to get results."
