Watford 'saddened' by death of fan taken ill at women's match

Watford say they are "deeply saddened" by the death of a fan who suffered a heart attack at a game involving their women's team last month.

Peter Arokiasamy was taken ill during the 3-1 Women's Championship defeat by Sheffield United on 19 November.

Following treatment at Vicarage Road he was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he passed away.

"Our thoughts are with all relatives and friends at this extremely difficult time," a club statement said., external

"Watford FC representatives have been in contact with Peter's family - who expressed their gratitude to the club for the timely and expert care he received."

Mr Arokiasamy lived in the town for 50 years.
