Huddersfield have recalled right-back Brodie Spencer from Motherwell.
The Championship side have cut short what was intended to be a season-long loan for the 19-year-old Northern Ireland international.
Spencer has thrived in the Scottish Premier League, making 19 appearances and recently captaining the side.
Terriers manager Darren Moore said the player "returns to our club to challenge for a position in the starting line-up."
Spencer, who played six first-team games for Huddersfield last season and extended his contract with the club in the summer, has also played at left wing-back for Motherwell.
Huddersfield sporting director Mark Cartwright told the club website: "We've watched Brodie closely during the first half of the season and his loan has achieved everything we wanted it to.
"He's established himself in the team in the top league in Scotland, has played in big games and will have learned so much from the experience."
