Salford boss Karl Robinson has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association after being sent off 14 minutes into his first game in charge.

Robinson was red-carded for delaying the restart of play in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Forest Green.

It is alleged the former Oxford United boss acted in an improper manner, and he has until Monday to reply.

The 43-year-old told BBC Radio Manchester he would be on the touchline for Saturday's trip to Crawley.

"I've been given a fine and I'm on the touchline [against Crawley], which I think is a bit too much but I've got to accept that," he said.

"That was the frustrating thing for me - I felt like people think it's because of your anger, or you've lost control, but it certainly wasn't that.

"I had a smile on my face when he sent me off, I was very baffled."

Prior to his first game in charge, Robinson had claimed that he was eager to oversee the team, external despite being appointed just 24 hours beforehand.

"When he [referee Charles Breakspear] showed me the red card I said 'sorry, I think you've got that wrong and got the wrong colour' and he said 'no'," he continued.

"It was frustrating but I think you can see the sense of calmness on the whole situation. You have learn from every situation. Even the ones where you don't think you've made a mistake, you have to respect what's been done."
