FA Cup: Bristol City stun 10-man West Ham in FA Cup - highlights

Bristol City match winner Tommy Conway said he hopes the team can take their FA Cup form into the Championship when they return to the league.

Conway struck a third-minute goal as the Robins beat West Ham in a third-round replay at Ashton Gate on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old also scored Bristol City's goal in their 1-1 first-leg draw with the Premier League side.

In the Championship however the club are sitting 14th, having failed to win any of their last three games.

"I think that's the biggest positive, knowing that we can play against these sides and put in these sorts of performances," Conway told BBC Radio Bristol.

"It's a real positive for us and we need to take that into the league now. That'll push us up the league for sure."

West Ham are sixth in the Premier League and have exited the competition in the third round for the first time since 2017.

Bristol City will now host either Nottingham Forest or Blackpool in the fourth round, with the two sides replaying their tie on Wednesday.

"You can't write these sorts of nights, obviously you dream of them," Conway said.

"That's the exciting thing about it, if we can take that into the league then anything is possible this season."

Despite their recent form, City are only four point adrift of Coventry in the sixth and final play-off spot.

Conway is one of the Robins' homegrown successes, having been part of the club's set-up since the age of seven.

He is their leading scorer again this season with eight goals so far.

Against the Hammers he pounced on a sloppy back-pass by Konstantinos Mavropanos before rounding goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski to slot the ball into the net.

"I spoke to the gaffer about creeping and I found myself in a little half-space and when the centre-half went to pass it back, I thought there was a little chance," Conway said.

"I thought as I got my toe there maybe he [Fabianski] would have brought me down - I think I was going down in the first place. I managed to sort my feet out and get it out of my feet, stay calm and put it in the back of the net.

"My head was racing but I had to revaluate myself and put it in the back of the net as quickly as possible."
