Watch: Larne's Andy Ryan struck by object during County Antrim Shield Final

The County Antrim FA is set to review the incident late in its Shield Final on Tuesday when Larne striker Andy Ryan appeared to be struck by an object thrown from the crowd.

Deep in injury-time during Larne's 2-1 win over Glentoran, Ryan seemed to be hit by a liquid-filled container.

Initially Ryan was distressed for a time before action could resume.

A County Antrim FA statement said the match delegate had made it "aware of a number of incidents which took place".

"We are awaiting the match delegate's official report following which we will review its contents and if required, escalate to the relevant authority," continued the County Antrim FA statement.

In addition to the bottle throwing incident, flares were also let off during the final at Seaview.

Tuesday's game was live on the BBC iPlayer and replays suggested Ryan was hit by a plastic-type glass containing a liquid.

The Scottish striker immediately looked in some distress and appeared to brush away liquid from his eyes as play was held up for a short time before action resumed.

The matter will be dealt with by the Irish FA's disciplinary authorities if the County Antrim FA's review concludes that further investigation is required.

A statement from Glentoran on Wednesday morning said that they were "aware of this incident and are currently investigating further".

"When we have concluded the investigation we will act accordingly. Glentoran FC is clear that such behaviour is completely unacceptable and has no place in football," added the Glentoran statement.

Goals from Cian Bolger and Tomas Cosgrove helped the Inver Park club clinch a fourth successive County Antrim Shield triumph
