Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuentes is poised to move to Rizespor on loan, with the Turkish club having a £2m option to buy the 24-year-old.

Other clubs in Europe and South America had shown an interest in the Ecuador international, who was signed from Los Angeles in August.

Cifuentes has made 20 appearances for Rangers but only six league starts.

He was the final signing by Michael Beale, who was sacked as Rangers manager in October.

Five of Cifuentes' starts came after the appointment of Philippe Clement, but the midfielder has not featured since being substituted at half-time in Rangers' 3-2 Europa League win over Real Betis five days after being sent off during a Premiership victory against Dundee.

Cifuentes, who signed a four-year contract at Ibrox, is now expected to travel to the Black Sea city of Rize to complete his move to the Turkish Super Lig side.
