Former Motherwell striker Kevin van Veen has joined Kilmarnock on loan from Groningen.

The Fir Park club were keen on a return for the 32-year-old, who signed for the Dutch second-tier side after scoring 29 goals last season.

St Mirren also made an approach for Van Veen, who was among the four nominees for PFA Premiership player of the year.

He has scored five goals in 15 appearances for Groningen but has not featured since November.

The Dutchman hit 40 goals in 83 games during his time at Motherwell after moving on a free transfer from Scunthorpe in July 2021.

Kilmarnock, who sit fourth in the Premiership, visit Fir Park on Saturday.
