Crewe goalkeeper Tom Booth hopes to be able to resume training next week despite suffering a collapsed lung during their 0-0 draw with Tranmere.

The 19-year-old had to go off at half-time at Prenton Park after diving to save at the feet of Charlie Jolley.

He is still in hospital receiving treatment but the club say he could be discharged on Wednesday.

Booth made his first-team debut against Grimsby in April 2023 and has three clean sheets in 12 games this season.

"He will miss the clash with Crawley Town this weekend but is hoping to get the all-clear to resume light training towards the end of next week," said a club statement., external

"Everybody at Crewe Alexandra wishes Tom a speedy recovery and looks forward to seeing him back on the pitch."
