Thiago Alcantara: Liverpool midfielder out with muscle injury suffered at Arsenal
- Published
Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara is set for another spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury against Arsenal.
The 32-year-old, who had been out since April with a hip issue, returned to action as an 85th-minute substitute in Sunday's 3-1 defeat in north London.
However, he experienced a muscle problem during his brief appearance.
Thiago is out of contract this summer and it is unclear if he will stay with the Reds beyond the end of his deal.
Since joining the club in 2020 from Bayern Munich, he has made 98 appearances across all competitions for manager Jurgen Klopp's side but has struggled to stay clear of injuries in recent seasons.
Klopp could also be without Dominik Szoboszlai for the Premier League game against Burnley on Saturday after the midfielder aggravated a hamstring injury and missed the game at Arsenal.
Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah is also recovering from a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations last month.
Japan midfielder Wataru Endo is set to be available to Klopp after returning to the club following his country being eliminated from the Asian Cup after a defeat by Iran at the quarter-final stage.
