Gary Caldwell: Exeter City boss praises club for 'standing firm' during form slump

The win against Gary Caldwell's former side Wigan was Exeter's fourth in five games
Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell has praised the club for "standing firm" amid calls by fans for his dismissal earlier this season.
The Grecians' 2-1 win at Wigan Athletic on Saturday was their fourth in five games, and lifted the club to 13th in League One.
Goals from Mo Eisa and Jack Aitchison gave Exeter the three points against Caldwell's former club.
A 13-match winless run ended on 26 December when they beat Wycombe.
That was their first victory since 16 September, during which time Exeter dropped from first place into the relegation zone, leading to the board backing Caldwell publicly.
'Anything is possible'
Speaking to BBC Radio Devon after Saturday's match, Caldwell said he was "delighted" with another win.
"The team had character and showed the work ethic for each other, covering each other if there was a mistake," he said.
Caldwell added that the past few months had been "really difficult", but players returning from injury creates "really healthy competition".
"We were really depleted and had to dig in as a football club, and that includes the board, staff and players sticking together," he said.
"We always remained calm as a staff. We had to keep supporting the players and finding ways to adapt, to change, and to find ways to win football matches.
"Because the football club has stood firm and we've manged to bring players in, it's great that they can get the rewards."
On Tuesday's match against Derby County, he added it was "a huge test", but that "we've shown anything is possible this season".
