Northampton Town have signed former Reading defender Liam Moore on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old has been without a club since his contract with the Royals expired in June 2023.

Northampton manager Jon Brady said the former England Under-21 international had been training with his side.

"He has already fitted in well with the group and he brings with him a good amount of experience and an excellent pedigree," Brady told the club website., external

Moore started his career with Leicester City and had loan spells at Bradford, Brentford and Bristol City before joining Reading in 2016 and going on to make 234 appearances.

He was stripped of the Reading captaincy in January 2022 after stating his desire to leave the club and later that month joined Stoke City on loan but only played six games before suffering a serious injury in training.

"We are in a busy schedule at the moment and we wanted to make a defensive addition to the squad," Brady added.

"He has played a lot of football in the Premier League or the Championship and we are pleased to welcome him to the club."
