Baba Adeeko: Wigan Athletic midfielder signs new three-year contract

Defensive midfielder Baba Adeeko has played 36 games for Wigan this season, including 30 in League One

Wigan Athletic midfielder Baba Adeeko has signed a new contract to stay at the DW Stadium until June 2027.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, 20, has played 36 games in all competitions this season.

Adeeko made his debut in 2021 but has only become a regular this term.

"Baba is a young player with fantastic potential, and if he continues to work hard, he will have a successful career with us here at Wigan Athletic," said Latics manager Shaun Maloney.

He told the club's website, external: "Baba's long-term contract is an extremely positive statement from the football club.

"He has made his first-team breakthrough this season and has been a really important player for us both in and out of possession."

Wigan are currently 13th in League One, with 13 games of the season left to play.
