Plymouth Argyle have failed to score in their last two home games against Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion

Head coach Ian Foster says fatigue was a major factor in his Plymouth Argyle side's 3-0 home loss to West Bromwich Albion in the Championship.

Argyle failed to register a shot on target as they suffered their biggest home defeat since a 5-0 drubbing by Milton Keynes Dons in May 2022.

The Pilgrims have taken one point from three home league games in six days.

"Nobody wants to pay money and see their team get dismantled like we did in the second half," Foster said.

"But there's got to be an appreciation as well that the players are doing everything they possibly can, we all are, in a really tough period."

The match was Plymouth's sixth in February which included losing in extra time to Leeds in an FA Cup fourth-round replay and their longest away trip of the season to Sunderland.

Foster's side are 17th in the Championship, five points above the relegation zone.

"Whilst we enjoy FA Cup replays in front of full houses live on TV, it's probably had a detrimental effect on us physically," Foster added.

"There's no excuses, we knew the run of games we were coming into, we've tried our best, we're playing top level opposition, we remained competitive in the game until they scored a goal and then we have disappointing moments in the game from there.

"I put that down to to the players' tiredness and where they're at just at this moment in time."
