Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi has been ruled out for up to eight weeks after undergoing knee surgery.

Guehi, 23, was injured in the Eagles' loss at Brighton on 3 February and was replaced on 28 minutes.

After the initial scan, it was thought the injury would only keep the England defender out for two or three weeks.

Guehi will also miss England's matches with Brazil and Belgium next month - their final games before manager Gareth Southgate names his Euro 2024 squad.

There was an option for Guehi not to have an operation but that may have resulted in him needing treatment further down the line.

Guehi is one of Palace's key players and his absence will be a blow for new manager Oliver Glasner.

The former Chelsea academy player hopes to be fit for the last few games of the Premier League season and to prove his fitness before this summer's Euros. Guehi has been linked with a move to some of the Premier League's top clubs and will enter the final two years of his Palace contract this summer.
