Charlton Athletic have announced the signing of experienced winger Kazenga LuaLua.

The 33-year-old, who played 182 times for the Seagulls, was last contracted to Greek club Levadiakos in 2023.

He has now signed a short-term deal until the end of April 2024.

Manager Nathan Jones shared his delight at Lualua joining having previously worked with him at Brighton and Luton Town.

"He's someone that we haven't got here," Jones said.

"We wanted to have that option so it was an ideal opportunity."

The 33-year-old started his career with Newcastle United where he progressed through the youth ranks to make his Premier League debut in January 2008.

The prospect of working under Nathan Jones was an appealing proposition for the Addicks' latest addition.

"I know the gaffer from when I was at Brighton and also at Luton," LuaLua said.

"I've had a good time with him. It's a pleasure for me to be working with him again because I've always learned a lot.

"I've been training with the team for the last few weeks and I'm buzzing to wear the shirt."

The Addicks are unbeaten in their last seven League One games and have only lost once since hiring Nathan Jones as manager.

The Welshman replaced Michael Appleton as permanent manager in February.

"We're just waiting for international clearance to see if he'll be involved at the weekend [against Fleetwood Town]," Jones said.

"He's a player I've worked with over a number of years, I worked with him at Brighton where he was magnificent, and then he came in and did a similar job for me at Luton."

LuaLua, the younger brother of former Newcastle striker Lomana LuaLua, came through the Magpies academy.

Charlton are 15th in League One, 10 points clear of the relegation zone.
