Torquay United manager Paul Wotton says his side were 'fortunate to get a point' following their 2-2 draw with struggling Salisbury City.
The result left the Gulls sixth in National League South, six points behind leaders Worthing with eight games to play.
But Wotton's team have a six-point buffer between them and Weston-super-Mare, who are the side just outside the play-off places.
"I can't quite put my finger on it. I thought we lacked energy, I thought we lacked a little bit of desire," Wotton told BBC Radio Devon.
"We started the game really poorly, we spoke about having a really good start at home with a big crowd and being front-footed and putting the emphasis on attacking Salisbury, but we didn't do that.
"We scored against the run of play. We were fortunate to come in at half time 1-1.
"I'm very, very disappointed. It looked like we had no game plan, but we did. I don't think performance levels of certain individuals was very high at all."
Offrande Zanzala gave the Gulls a 13th-minute lead from close range before Salisbury's Owen Dore had a goal ruled out soon after.
The visitors levelled through Callum Watts in first-half stoppage time and went ahead nine minutes after the restart when Ronan Silva's cross looped over James Hamon and into the net.
But Will Jenkins-Davies equalised with 17 minutes to go as he smashed home after a Zanzala header had come back off the bar.
"For me it was a disappointing performance," added Wotton.
"We're a point closer to what we're trying to achieve. We have to remain positive, we had nine cup finals before tonight, now we've got eight.
"It's going to be very, very difficult, but we've got to remain positive and we'll come in training on Thursday and try and lift the players and get ready for a big game on Saturday."
