Preston have signed defender Ryan Porteous on loan until the end of the season from Championship rivals Watford.

The 25-year-old had made 25 appearances in all competitions for the Hornets this campaign.

The Scotland international started his career with Hibernian, where he worked with North End boss Paul Heckingbottom, before joining Watford in January 2023.

"He's an international defender with experience of playing regularly in the Championship, so he'll be a good addition for us between now and the end of the season," Heckingbottom told the club website., external

Meanwhile, Preston midfielder Kitt Nelson has been loaned out to Cork City until the end of June.

The move away from Deepdale comes on the same day that the 20-year-old signed a new contract with Preston that runs "until at least 2028".
