Crystal Palace midfielder Justin Devenny says captain Marc Guehi "adds so much value to the team" after a deadline day move to Liverpool fell through.
Guehi was given permission to undergo a medical ahead of a proposed £35 million move to Anfield, but the deal collapsed after a deal sheet had been submitted after the 19:00 BST deadline had passed.
Crystal Palace could not sign a replacement and, subsequently, the England defender, 25, will now remain at Shelhurst Park.
"He's such a great player and adds so much value to the team," Devenny told BBC Sport NI.
"He's a leader on and off the pitch and you can see that the way he acted. He's been spot on and he's quality."

Northern Ireland international Devenny, 21, won the FA Cup in May and has played an increasing role under Palace manager Oliver Glasner.
He scored the winning penalty in Palace's Community Shield triumph over Liverpool at Wembley after coming on as a second-half substitute.
Devenny said he "knew I was going to score" the decisive kick and it was "an amazing moment".
"I should have scored in the last minute of the game, but it was such a great experience.
"For me to step up and score was a great feeling. It's been a great year and it's going from strength to strength."
Palace will play in Europe this season in the Uefa Conference League and Devenny adds the challenge of playing more matches in a season is a challenge the Eagles are embracing.
"We're in four competitions this year, and both the boys and the players believe we can get a result no matter who we play against," he said.
"It's for us to build on and see how far we can get in all competitions."
NI need to 'believe' to reach World Cup

Justin Devenny has won five Northern Ireland caps
Devenny will now head on international duty with Northern Ireland for the opening World Cup qualifiers in Luxembourg and Germany.
Michael O'Neill's youthful side take on Luxembourg on Thursday and will be huge underdogs against Germany three days later.
"Germany are such a great side but Luxembourg is what we need to concentrate on. We need to be confident in ourselves.
"We believe we get a result, they are a good team and we can hopefully win it.
"We want to get as many points as we can, it doesn't matter who we are playing against.
"We believe in the squad that we are good enough to take something away from any team."
Devenny says Northern Ireland must "believe" they can qualify for the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico next summer.
"You've always got to have short term and long term goals. For Northern Ireland, we want to get to the World Cup at the end of the day.
"The fans believe it and we have to believe it as well. It starts now and it's such an exciting time.
"There's so much quality in the squad and you always have to believe and tell yourself that's where you want to be."
