Jersey Bulls manager Elliot Powell has praised his side's defence following their 1-0 win at Tooting and Mitcham United in Combined Counties Premier South.

Jonny Le Quesne scored the only goal four minutes into the second half as the islanders consolidated third place in the table.

Powell's side are four points off second-placed Whyteleafe and seven behind leaders Redhill with three and two games in hand respectively.

"We took our goal well, a really good team move and could have added another five minutes after," Powell told BBC Radio Jersey.

"After that it was just backs against the wall and seeing it out for a 1-0 win, so delighted to get across the line.

"I think Luke Campbell and James Queree were absolutely excellent today.

"Every single player defensively was excellent out of possession and as much as it was backs against the wall I think Euan's [Euan van der Vliet] only really had to make one save, a good save at that, but that's probably testament to the work done in front of him.

"It's been a couple of weeks since we got a clean sheet and we pride ourselves on our out of possession work, and I thought last week against Tadley we were really poor out of possession, got cut through too easily centrally.

"Today was very different from that, we've limited them to very few chances on goal."
