Chesterfield have signed winger Dilan Markanday on a three-year contract following his release by Championship club Blackburn Rovers.

The 23-year-old made 24 appearances for the Spireites and scored seven goals during a loan spell at the start of last season.

He later joined League One side Leyton Orient on loan, scoring three goals in 17 games.

"I'm over the moon, really happy. It just feels like coming back home," Markanday told the club website, external.

"I'm at my happiest when I'm playing football and there's no better environment than this to really help me do that."

Markanday is Chesterfield's first signing since losing to Walsall over two legs in the League Two play-offs.
