Barrow have sacked boss Stephen Clemence after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Swindon, which left the club 17th in League Two.
Former Gillingham manager Clemence, 46, was appointed by Barrow in May on a two-year contract.
Barrow reached the third round of the Carabao Cup under Clemence, eventually being knocked out by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
However, they have won only once in the league since beating Cheltenham on 5 October and are eight points above the relegation zone after a five-match winless run.
In a statement,, external Barrow chairman Paul Hornby said: "Stephen came in over the summer and we had high hopes to build on his considerable coaching ability and reputation.
"We've built a strong squad of players together and enjoyed some memorable early success including our Carabao Cup exploits.
"Stephen has always conducted himself with great dignity and professionalism but unfortunately our recent extended run of poor results has led us to the decision that it was time to make a change."
Clemence's assistant Robbie Stockdale has also left the club.
