Defender Julio Pleguezuelo has signed a new contract with Plymouth Argyle to keep him at the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.

The 28-year-old Spaniard moved to the Devon club in June 2023 from Dutch side FC Twente and has since made 53 appearances in all competitions.

He scored his first Argyle goal in the draw with Bristol City on New Year's Day, one of 14 Championship games he has featured in this campaign.

Head coach Miron Muslic said Pleguezuelo had showed "all the attributes" he admires since he took over.

"He is tenacious, strong in duels and gives his all for the team," Muslic told the club website., external

"Most of all though, he is a good person, and a good professional, who is an important part of our dressing room."

Pleguezuelo missed three of Argyle's past four games with an injury but returned to the squad and was an unused substitute for their 1-1 draw against Cardiff last Saturday.
