How much was the Europa League final worth for Tottenham?

  • Published

Tottenham are guaranteed about £21m for winning the Europa League - and that could rise beyond £100m depending on their performances in the Champions League.

The north London club are guaranteed about £16m for reaching the league phase of next season's tournament.

That could climb to about £50m with additional prize money awarded based on league position and for victories and draws.

It does not factor in revenue beyond the Champions League's last 16.

Tottenham will also be able to generate millions from tickets, broadcasters, and sponsors.

Manchester United earned £21.6m for reaching the final of Europe's second-tier competition this season, while Tottenham's total prize money was about £26.5m.

Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final

Tottenham earned £5m for winning the Europa League final alone and are now guaranteed £21m, with their status in next season's Champions League league phase confirmed.

Should Tottenham fail to win any of the eight league games, their prize money will not increase much higher.

But there are bonuses based on league position and for every round after the league phase which a club reaches.

If Tottenham were to win all eight games and finish top of the group and therefore qualify for the last 16, the £21m could rise up to £54.4m.

An extra £45m could be earned through prize money in the knockout stages, tickets, broadcast revenue and sponsor bonuses.
