Barnsley have signed defender Nathanael Ogbeta on a season-long loan from Plymouth Argyle.

Ogbeta, 24, started his career at Manchester City's academy before moving to Shrewsbury, then Swansea, where he also had loan spells at Peterborough and Bolton.

The attacking full-back is getting married this weekend but will forego a honeymoon to join up with his new team-mates at Oakwell next week.

"Currently, I'm in London because I'm getting married at the weekend. But I'm excited to join the lads next week and get started," he told the club website, external.

Reds boss Conor Hourihane was pleased with his new acquisition, adding: "He has good EFL experience for a player of his age, and he brings depth to the squad, which is essential."

Ogbeta becomes Barnsley's second signing of the summer, following the arrival of goalkeeper Murphy Cooper on loan from QPR.
