Luton Town have increased their defensive options by signing centre-back Christ Makosso for an undisclosed fee from Belgian club RWD Molenbeek.
The 20-year-old Congo international, who made 11 appearances for Molenbeek this season, is Luton's first signing of the January transfer window.
The Hatters did sign Erik Pieters on a short-team deal in December but the experienced Dutch defender is yet to feature for the first-team.
Makosso first came to Europe when he was signed by French club Sochaux before moving to Molenbeek in January.
"Christ is a young and really athletic defender who has caught the eye of the recruitment team, and we all think he's got a really big future ahead of him," said Hatters boss Rob Edwards.
"We'll need some patience as he continues his development, but he's an exciting young player who fits into the way we want to play going forward."
Luton ended 2024 in 19th place in the Championship, four points clear of the relegation places.
"I'm really excited to be joining Luton. I've seen so many positive stories about the club and the amazing fans," Makosso said.
The length of his contract with Luton has not been disclosed.
