Barnsley have signed Reyes Cleary from West Bromwich Albion on a three-year contract, with the club having the option of a fourth.

The 21-year-old forward came through the ranks at The Hawthorns, but only made two substitute appearances in the Championship.

Last season he had separate loan spells with League Two Walsall and then Hartlepool United in the National League, where he scored six goals in 20 games.

"When I found out I had interest from Barnsley, I was excited," Cleary told the club's website, external.

"We've got a very young team. The manager trusts younger players."

Barnsley finished 12th in League One last season and are preparing for this campaign under new head coach Conor Hourihane.
