Coventry City have boosted their goalkeeping options ahead of the new Championship season by signing Brighton's Carl Rushworth on a season-long loan.

With first choice Oliver Dovin still recovering from a knee injury sustained in March and likely to be out for several more months, Rushworth, 24, will compete with Ben Wilson and Brad Collins for the number one spot.

Rushworth began his career at Huddersfield Town and Halifax Town before joining Brighton in the summer of 2020.

He cut his senior teeth in loan spells with Lincoln City, Walsall, Swansea City and a short stint with Hull City in the first half of last season.

Rushworth is Sky Blues' boss Frank Lampard's third summer signing after permanent deals for Spanish full-back Miguel Angel Brau and defender Kaine Kesler-Hayden from Aston Villa.
