Ben Sheaf says new head coach Frank Lampard has brought energy to the squad in his first full week of training

Coventry City captain Ben Sheaf says the squad have had an "enjoyable" first week of training under new head coach Frank Lampard, who's brought some positivity to preparations for Saturday's trip to Millwall.

The Sky Blues rescued a late point in Lampard's first game in charge against Cardiff City last weekend and takes his side to south east London hoping for his first win after having his first full week with his new players.

"It's been enjoyable," Sheaf told BBC CWR. "New information, good new energy, positive energy around the place.

"Hopefully we can take that into the game.

"Like every change, there's going to be a few bits and bobs that are different, but sometimes change is good, and it can give some a kick up the backside.

"You look at yourself in the mirror and think, 'What can I do differently?' It's a positive change."

The Lions, who will pay tribute to their former legendary boss John Docherty who passed away this week aged 84 ahead of kick-off, are bang in form and looking to go 10 games unbeaten.

Top of Sheaf's agenda at the New Den will be tightening up the Coventry defence, which has seen them let in two goals in each of the last five games.

"Conceding goals isn't just down to the back four and the goalkeeper. It's down to everyone and starts from the front," he said.

"We're conceding too many goals and really poor goals at that.

"You've just got to do the workout on the training pitch, and hopefully we can change that record."
