Veteran goalkeeper Flinders leaves Stags

Scott Flinders joined Mansfield from Cheltenham in the summer of 2022

Veteran goalkeeper Scott Flinders has left Mansfield Town after failing to reach a new agreement with the League One side.

The 39-year-old was among five players that were discussing their futures with the Stags at the end of the season.

He has juggled his duties as back-up keeper at the One Call Stadium with a role with the club's goalkeeper coaching set-up.

Flinders, who counts Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion, Barnsley, Hartlepool and Cheltenham among the 12 clubs he has featured for during his career, made just 22 appearance for the Stags across all competitions in his three years there.

Christy Pym, who was first choice ahead of Flinders throughout that time, was released at the end of the season and replaced by Liam Roberts.

Flinders' departure was confirmed by the club on social media with a message from the player saying he had "some great times" with a club he helped to promotion from League Two in 2024.
