Arsenal are in advanced talks for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, but a successful move hinges on the Gunners selling players before the transfer deadline.
With Monday's 19:00 BST cut-off looming, Arsenal want to add left-sided defender Hincapie to their squad.
Multiple sources have indicated an agreement is close for the Ecuador international, who has a £52m release clause, while the 23-year-old wants the move.
However, Arsenal are mindful of complying with Uefa's squad cost ratio regulations and want to ensure players are sold before completing a deal for Hincapie.
The Gunners are in talks with Porto over an exit for Jakub Kiwior, with Hincapie seen as a direct replacement for the Poland defender in Mikel Arteta's squad.
There is also interest in attacker Reiss Nelson, who has suitors from across Europe.
Fulham have approached Arsenal about Nelson but the Cottagers are reluctant to sign the winger on a permanent deal or a loan with an obligation to buy.
Oleksandr Zinchenko, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Fabio Vieira - who has interest from Stuttgart - can also leave this month.
