Wales forward Georgia Walters has joined Gwalia United from Blackburn Rovers.

The 32-year-old former Liverpool striker is the Welsh club's fifth signing in preparation for their 2025-26 FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division campaign.

Walters, who has five Wales caps, began her career at Swindon Town and has also played for Reading and Tranmere Rovers, as well as two spells with Blackburn - playing last season in the FA Women's Championship, now rebranded as WSL 2.

"Each year, the league gets harder and harder, and having experience in higher divisions can become invaluable," said Walters.

"I know a couple of teammates from previous camps. I'm really excited with the project, and I really like the ambition of the club."

Walters joins once-capped Wales defender Amina Vine, Arsenal youth products Daisy Ackerman and Bethan McGowan, and ex-Cardiff City striker Eliza Collie as summer signings for manager James Thomas' squad.

"I'm delighted we have been able to bring Georgia to Gwalia United," said Thomas. "I know Georgia from working with her within the Wales senior national team environment and she has been a player on my wish list since I've taken the role here at Gwalia.

"She brings leadership, high standards and expectations, not just of herself, but of the players around her too. That fits with what we're building here.

"The playing group we have assembled at Gwalia United is an exciting one and I can't wait for the season to get started."
