Bristol City have the squad depth to be a "top team" and challenge in the Championship this season says forward Anis Mehmeti.

The Robins are 10th in the table going into the international break, three points off Watford in the final play-off spot, and next face fourth-placed Burnley on 23 November.

Mehmeti scored one goal and played a part in setting up another for Nahki Wells in their 2-0 win against Norwich City, on his first start in three games.

"We know we're a top team but sometimes we've fell short, like against Sheff U where we should come out with three points, I think that's the Championship," he told BBC Radio Bristol, with City having conceded two late goals to lose 2-1 to the Blades last week.

"That's what we said at the beginning of the season and I know we have the players and the squad depth to do that. Not everyone is going to play every game but we need to be ready.

"Like myself, for example, I haven't started the last three games and obviously been frustrated but I get back on the pitch and want to contribute with goals to keep my position.

"Healthy competition but at the end of the day everyone wants to play. As long as we're all competing for spots we know that it's only going to be positive for the team."
