Rangers retained top spot in the SWPL with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Motherwell.

Glasgow City were 5-0 winners away to Aberdeen to keep the pressure on the league leaders and now trail by just one point in second place.

Hibs beat Montrose 5-1 despite being level at half-time.

Strugglers Spartans managed a 2-1 victory away to Dundee United, while top three hopefuls Hearts were 3-0 winners at Partick Thistle.

Motherwell held Rangers at 0-0 for 57 minutes before Katie Wilkinson broke the deadlock.

Lizzie Arnot followed that up less than 20 minutes later after her shot was deflected into the back of Emily Mutch's net.

Emily Whelan bagged two first-half goals in City's 5-0 victory over Aberdeen.

Goals from Aleigh Gambone, Chloe Warrington and Mairead Fulton completed the scoring for Leanne Ross' side.

It took 40 minutes for Kathleen McGovern to fire Hibs in front at Meadowbank. Montrose responded almost immediately in the second half when Tally Robb found the back of the net.

Demi Taylor was sent off for the visitors and gave away a penalty which Eilidh Adams fired into the bottom corner.

Late goals from Rosie Livingstone, Lauren Doran-Barr and a Holly Daniel own goal made it a comfortable afternoon for the Edinburgh outfit.

Hannah Jordan's double secured all three points for Spartans. Morgan Steedman pulled one back for United just over 10 minutes after the visitors made it 2-0.

After a difficult afternoon at Kirkintilloch, Hearts emerged with three points, and three goals, against Partick Thistle.

Bayley Hutchison got the visitors off the mark before former Aberdeen team-mate Eilidh Shore's header made it 2-0 before the break.

Summer signing Jackie Richards grabbed the third with a little over half an hour to play.

Despite having chances, Thistle couldn't manage to make them count.
