Port Vale boss Darren Moore says he wants to give attacking midfielder George Hall more time further up the pitch this season.
The summer signing from Birmingham City has played in a number of positions and grabbed his second goal for the club coming on up front as a second-half substitute in Tuesday's Vertu Cup game against Fleetwood.
The game ended 3-3 before Vale lost on penalties.
Moore said he would like to see 21-year-old Hall in his natural attacking role more often.
"Where I see him is higher up the pitch," he told BBC Radio Stoke.
"His versatility has allowed him to play in wider, deeper positions for the team but I see him as most effective higher up."
Hall has had some injury issues over the past few seasons and has been eased back in carefully by Moore this term, with five of his seven league appearances coming from the bench.
He has been deployed as a striker, a number 10, out wide and in a more central midfield position at times this season and Moore says that is invaluable to him and the team.
"He's just been unfortunate that he's had to deputise in deeper positions because of injuries," Moore added.
"He's a terrific player and we've seen moments from him and I'm hoping the Vale fans can see a consistent run in the team with him higher up the pitch.
"He's go so much ability going forward. He scored a good goal in the FA Cup so it shows the goal threat he carries for us."
Vale are back in League One action on Saturday with a home game against Wycombe Wanderers with Moore saying Vale need to "dust ourselves down and come back with some detailed work" ahead of the Chairboys' visit.
