BBC retains Premier League radio commentary rights

The new rights deal begins at the start of next season

The BBC has retained its deal for radio commentary of the Premier League for another four seasons.

It means BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds will broadcast 209 matches per season from the 2025-26 campaign to 2028-29.

At least five of the 10 fixtures will be available each week, including exclusive commentary of two Saturday 3pm matches.

Having won four of the six audio packages available, 5 Live will have rights to fixtures at:

  • Saturday 15:00 (two matches)

  • Saturday 17:30

  • Sunday 14:00

  • Sunday 16:30

Heidi Dawson, Controller of BBC Radio 5 Live and 5 Sports Extra said: "With more live commentary matches than ever before, BBC Radio 5 Live remains the home of Premier League football.
