Promoted Charlton are to install former Barnsley and Nottingham Forest chief executive Dane Murphy in the same role at The Valley.

The 39-year-old American worked at Oakwell when Barnsley reached the Championship play-offs in 2021 before moving to Forest, who were promoted to the top flight a year later.

A former midfielder with DC United and New York Cosmos, Murphy also turned out for Osnabruck in Germany's second tier and then worked in scouting and technical director's roles back in the United States.

"Dane is an ambitious, dynamic and forward-thinking leader with experience at the top level of the game," said Charlton chairman Gavin Carter.

"He understands what it takes to create a high-performance culture and deliver results."

Subject to passing the EFL's owners and directors test, Murphy will replace Charlie Methven, who stood down as the Addicks' chief executive three months ago.
