Portsmouth's Paddy Lane will "likely" miss the rest of the Championship season with a knee injury, according to boss John Mousinho.

The head coach said the winger will be out for at least four months with the injury which forced him off during Pompey's recent game at Blackburn Rovers.

Lane, 23, was helped off the pitch at Ewood Park at half-time and looked unable to put any weight on his left leg as he hobbled off.

"Unfortunately Paddy is most likely going to be out for the season," Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent.

"It was unfortunately very similar to Joe Morrell's injury last year and will probably be around four months as a bare minimum.

"We're obviously gutted for him. Paddy was coming back into the side, picking up his fitness and looking like he was adjusting well to the level. I'm gutted for the kid.

"To be honest when he came off the pitch (at Blackburn) I feared ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), so it is a positive from that perspective. But unfortunately it will still see him out for the season."

Former Pompey player Morrell sustained a knee cartilage injury, requiring surgery in February of 2024 that ruled him out for the season.

Lane has made 22 appearances for Portsmouth in the Championship this term and scored one goal, in a home 4-0 thrashing of Swansea at the start of January.

He joined the Blues from Fleetwood in 2023 and scored 12 goals in 42 appearances last campaign when Pompey were promoted from League One.
