Tranmere Rovers have shown their loyalty to long-term injury victim Josh Williams by handing him a contract extension.
The 21-year-old Welshman, who spent the bulk of last season on loan at Southport, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in pre-season which is set to keep him out of all of the current campaign.
However, manager Andy Crosby views the midfielder as a key part of his future plans and after being offered a new deal, Williams has committed his future to Prenton Park until the end of the 2026-27 season.
"When I received the phone call from the manager to say he wanted to offer me a new contract, I was over the moon," said Williams, who joined Tranmere from Welsh side Connah's Quay Nomads in 2024.
"I was with my mum when I got the phone call, and we were both just buzzing. Especially as I'm going through this really tough time mentally, to know the club is supporting me, and I'm part of the future plans, really helps.
"Everyone has been so supportive of me since I joined the club - players, staff, and fans. It's meant a lot to me, and I can't thank everyone enough.
"Of course, now being injured is devastating. I worked hard in the closed season to make sure I came back in the best shape possible to fight for my place in the team, but it's just made me more determined than ever to get back fit, and hopefully put that shirt on and do the fans and everyone who has supported me proud."
