Powell to step down as Jersey FA men's manager

Elliot Powell is to step down as manager of Jersey's representative football team next month.
Powell's departure comes after the decision to formalise managing the men's senior and under-21 sides into one role. His final game in charge will be Jersey U21s against Guernsey U21s on 10 November.
The 26-year-old took over the role initially on an interim basis last year and led the side to a gold medal at the Island Games. His position was made permanent in April.
Powell, who will remain in charge of club side Jersey Bulls, said that leading the national side had been the "proudest moment" of his career to date.
“Ultimately circumstances have dictated this decision and whilst wholeheartedly supporting the association’s move to combine both senior and U21 positions, I unfortunately cannot provide the commitment or dedication that such a prestigious role demands," Powell said, external.
“The Island Games triumph, followed by a dramatic Muratti win are memories that I will cherish forever, and I will be supporting the new management team from the stands as they look to defend both in 2025."
Powell's coaching team will also step down with recruitment to begin immediately.
“Whilst we’re disappointed that Elliot has decided to step down, we respect his decision and completely understand the commitment, bandwidth and time required to ensure Jersey Bulls are successful," said Tim Pryor, chief executive of the Jersey FA.
“I thank Elliot, on behalf of the Jersey Football Association, for his diligent and passionate work in the Jersey men’s role over the past few years."
