Wotton frustrated as decision denies Torquay win

Torquay's appeals to the officials after their goal was disallowed did not change the decision

Torquay United manager Paul Wotton says he is getting frustrated by decisions going against his side after their 0-0 draw with Tonbridge Angels.

New loan signing Keke Jeffers had what replays showed was a perfectly good late winner ruled out for offside.

The 19-year-old Stoke City forward headed in Matt Carson's 89th-minute free-kick but then saw the assistant referee raise a flag.

The point saw the Gulls drop to sixth in National League South, despite losing just once in eight matches.

"I knew in real time it can't be offside," Wotton told BBC Radio Devon.

"The linesman obviously saw something different. It's frustrating."

Despite his anger at the decision, Wotton says he will try to take the good aspects from the draw as his side kept a second successive clean sheet.

"I'm trying not to be too frustrated because, in the cold light of day, there were lots and lots of positives - tonnes of them," he said.

"We looked defensively very sound and we did on Tuesday night as well, so that's good because we'd been leaking some silly goals.

"Two clean sheets, that's good, unbeaten at home still, that's good, we're plugging away."
