League Two leaders Walsall have appointed Andy McGregor as their new head of recruitment.

The club said McGregor will "provide strategic direction and oversight" as well as have a role in the club's recruitment strategy, scouting network and talent pathway from the academy to the first team.

He has previously worked for Norwich City, Preston North End, Plymouth Argyle, Rangers and Swansea City.

"There's been some really good conversations with [CEO] Ben and [head coach] Mat Sadler, and from the off you can tell that this is an ambitious club," McGregor told the club website, external.

"We want to move forward and progress and that matches my ambitions, so the decision to come here was a no-brainer."

Walsall return to action at home to Colchester United on Saturday (15:00 GMT).
