Former Manchester City and Northern Ireland midfielder Kevin Horlock has resigned as manager of non-league Needham Market.

He had been in charge of the Suffolk club for almost four years but stepped down following Saturday's 2-1 win over Warrington.

Horlock's number two Ian Rothery has stepped up to replace him, with Nathan Munson becoming his assistant.

Despite the victory - their second in three games - the Marketmen remain bottom of National League North following last season's promotion.

During Horlock's time in charge, Needham Market reached the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy, first round proper of the FA Cup and won the Suffolk Premier Cup on four occasions.

"All at the club would like to place on record it's sincere thanks to Kev for all he's done for the club," said a statement.

Horlock also played for Swindon Town, West Ham United and Ipswich Town during his playing career and before taking charge of Needham Market, he had spells as manager of Chatham Town and Maldon & Tiptree.
